ABOUT DIRICHI
I grew up as a young curious girl whose father said the same thing over and over again, in different ways: education is what lets you move between worlds. Not just get by in them — actually move between them, on your own terms. That's really where my story starts. Not in a boardroom, not in an engineering classroom. In my father, telling his daughter that the one thing he could give her was a way to stand in two places at once and belong in both.
Moving between two worlds for a long time that felt like living two separate lives instead of one. My father turned out to be right — education was the bridge. I just didn't know it would look like engineering. Engineering taught me to think differently, to look at a problem from the side instead of head-on, and to see how science actually shows up in people's everyday lives. But honestly, just as much of my education came from talking to people. Listening to lives that looked nothing like mine. Noticing how much the place someone grows up in shapes who they become. That's what taught me to ask a harder question: not just why something works in one place and not another, but who got left out when it was built that way — especially women, and the gaps in policy and fairness that get baked in before anyone even notices.
Everything I've built since then comes back to those two lessons. Find where people or places aren't being treated the same — and build something that closes that gap. That's how The Farmers Alliance started, making sure American farmers, many of them immigrants like my own family, aren't left out of the systems meant to help them. It's why I advise USAfrica Hub, trying to make trade between the U.S. and Africa more of a two-way street. It's behind Fresh Basket, The Vegan Oils, and QIP Energy too. Different businesses, same idea underneath.
Outside of all this, most people just call me Dee. I live in D.C., and I will absolutely talk your ear off about a bad referee decision if you bring up Manchester United.
